Blizzard officially launched the new Oasis map for "Overwatch" as part of its very first free update for the new year.

Initially unveiled during the BlizzCon 2016 in November, the Oasis map is a Control map that highlights one of the most progressive cities in the Arabian Desert.

According to the official map description, "A monument to human ingenuity and invention, researchers and academics from around the region came together to found a city dedicated to scientific progress without restraints."

The map description also reveals that the Oasis city and its residents are under the jurisdiction of the Ministries, the group of intelligent beings who has a lot of secrets that fascinate a number of powerful organizations worldwide.

The Oasis map comes with a lot of sparkling, futuristic-looking buildings, Arabesque interiors and architecture, as well as palm-tree-lined streets.

Meanwhile, the game developer also revealed that they are planning to come up with a new patch update this week. The upcoming patch will come with several changes to the Australian bodyguard Roadhog, including the function of his hook.

According to the statement of the lead game designer Geoff Goodman on the game's official forum site, "The hook victim will now move in to the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him. There is a cap on how far 'to the side' you can be pulled, so you can't just hook someone, spin 180, and dump someone off a cliff."

The patch will also fix Roadhog's hook position, since it will no longer check if the hook is connected or not based on the bodyguard's point-of-view. While the upcoming patch could possibly make Roadhog's performance a little weaker, Goodman promised that they will evaluate the character's performance and make necessary adjustments as soon as the players start using him for the game. However, he did not mention the exact date of arrival of the new "Overwatch" update.
