'Overwatch' news: Blizzard to nerf Roadhog's hook soon; Oasis map now live
After being initially announced last November, the latest map for "Overwatch" is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Set in a futuristic desert city, the Oasis map is for the game's Control gametype. The new area is filled with soaring buildings, palm tree-lined avenues and busy vehicle traffic. Aside from the opposing team's firepower, players must dodge the speeding cars in the map to stay alive.
Oasis was first announced back at last year's Blizzcon, along with the newest hero, Sombra. It has been available on the Overwatch Public Test Region (PTR) servers since then, but it was only launched officially last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, players have complained for months abour Roadhog's hook that seemingly defies all laws of physics. In addition to hooking players through the payload and walls, it also hooks players through other players. Many gamers consider Roadhog's hook to be a mess, so Blizzard is finally doing something to fix it.
On the official "Overwatch" forum, principal designer Geoff Goodman told players that Roadhog will have his hook ability nerfed in the Public Test Realm very soon. "The hook victim will now move in to the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him," Goodman explained, adding, "There is a cap on how far 'to the side' you can be pulled, so you can't just hook someone, spin 180, and dump someone off a cliff." The designer also revealed elsewhere in the thread that Sombra "could use a bit of a boost," hinting that the character might get a buff in the future.
Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, "Overwatch" was released in May 2016 for Microsoft Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game bagged numerous accolades from The Game Awards 2016, including the most-coveted Game of the Year award.
