'Pokémon GO' evolution update 2017 news: Three more updates expected after Generation 2
Niantic CEO John Hanke recently mentioned in his talk in Spain that "Pokémon GO" users can expect three more updates within 2017 that will follow after the February patch, which introduced Generation 2 Pokémon in the mobile game. At that time, he did not reveal what these enhancements will be. However, he has since disclosed what the next update will feature.
According to PokémonGO Hub, Hanke spoke with Wired and said that the upcoming update will bring changes to the Gym system. In the interview, he admitted that the current setup is not working as well as they intended it to be. He also said that the system still incomplete. As such, they will be re-working this feature to improve it. According to him, the enhancements will look into the promotion of teamwork. Furthermore, more incentives and rewards will be offered to players to encourage them to use this system.
He also said that Niantic is considering introducing a Player vs. Player (PVP) mode in the next "Pokémon GO" update. Another option they are considering is the option of players to swap Pokémon. However, Niantic senior product manager Tatsuo Nomura clarified to Polygon during the Game Developers Conference that the trading will not happen online, but face-to-face, as the company wants to encourage physical interactions among their players.
Players may soon also be able to participate in Mew/Mewtwo events and see legendary bird Pokémon. As Hanke said, "I can safely say we'll see more of it this year."
No announcements have been made yet on when these updates will be incorporated in "Pokémon GO." In the meantime, players can anticipate that Niantic is cooking up a new event for them as one of their representatives advised gamers during the DICE Summit to "Spare your candies," leading some to wonder if a Double XP event will be coming up soon.
"Pokémon GO" recently won an award for Best Mobile Game of 2016 at the DICE Summit.
