'Power Ranger' movie release date, cast news update: Newest film poster features the Rangers' Zords
Lionsgate has recently released a new poster for the upcoming big-screen reboot of "Power Rangers." The poster features the much-awaited revamped version of the Zords which are expected to appear in the superhero film.
As posted on the movie's official Facebook page, the exclusive poster showcases the Zords as they emerge from the foggy mountains. The only Zord that is clearly visible in the poster is the Yellow Ranger's Sabretooth Tiger Battle Zord. The figures of the Pink Ranger's Pterodactyl and the Red Ranger's Tyrannosaurus can also be seen in the background.
As reported by Coming Soon, Saban's "Power Rangers" movie follows five ordinary high school teenagers who are compelled to become extraordinary when they find out that their hometown, Angel Grove, and the rest of the world are on the verge of being destroyed by an alien threat. In order to do so, they will have to resolve their real-life issues and come together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
The film is highly anticipated by fans who followed the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" series back in the 1990s. Being a reboot, the film is a reimagining of the nostalgic "Power Rangers" classic, and fans should not expect everything to look exactly as they remember it from their younger years. What is sure to return, however, is the resurrection of the catchy "Go Go Power Rangers" theme, according to The Wrap.
However, as reported by Comic Book, the theme song will sound very different from its original version, and the movie will possibly feature only its orchestral version. The orchestral version is also not guaranteed to be used in any of the scenes in the movie, but it will perhaps appear in the official soundtrack or the film's end credits.
The cast of "Power Rangers" includes Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), and Sarah Grey (Amanda).
"Power Rangers," directed by Dean Israelite, will be released in theaters on March 24, 2017.
