'Power Rangers' release date and news: New images and character descriptions revealed
The "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" reboot is getting some major traction with their marketing campaign, and fans of the original series are getting more and more excited. The movie just launched a site that's posing as the Angel Grove newsletter, and it gives audiences a look into the characters and the places that they will be in the movie.
The site is called The Roar, and it claims to be "the student news source for Angel Grove High School." Angel Grove is the setting in which the movie takes place, and The Roar reports on the different things that supposedly happening in the fictional high school.
The site puts a spotlight on Billy Cranston aka The Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler), and it reveals that he is a highly intelligent student who is always enthusiastic in class. The site also reports that Billy has oddly received detention, so fans can suspect that it has something to do with him receiving his powers.
The original series also featured a smart and studious Billy, so some fans are happy that they are sticking to his character traits in the reboot. Also, interestingly enough, his last name is revealed to be Cranston, much like the actor who plays Zordon in the movie, Bryan Cranston; Cranston has also played a part in the 1993 series as he voiced characters Twinman and Snizard.
The site also reveals that the trouble that Jason aka Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery) got into was due to a prank gone wrong. This probably resulted to the smashed car in the trailer as well as the ankle monitor. It's also revealed that he is a star quarterback who is suspended from the team for the rest of the season because of his prank.
Trini aka Yellow Ranger (Becky G.) is also revealed to have stayed in Angel Grove for about year, but she seems to be having trouble making friends.
New images have also been posted of the rest of the crew. A photo of Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) has also been revealed but the image has since been removed.
"Power Rangers" comes out on March 24, 2017.
