Adam West, who played "Batman" in the 1960s, is set to guest star in NBC's DC workplace comedy series "Powerless." He will take on the role of Dean West, the chairman of Wayne Industries, who will deliver bad news to Van (Alan Tudyk) and Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) about the company's future.

"Powerless" is set in Charm City, with the lead characters working in Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises, which makes products to help protect civilians from being affected as collateral damage when superheroes and villains fight.

West was television's original Batman, although his rendition of the Caped Crusader is decidedly campy and leaning toward comedy, unlike how the superhero is portrayed nowadays. In the press release announcing West's guest appearance on the show, executive producers Patrick Schumacher and Justin Halpern said, "'Powerless' is billed as DC's first comedy, but we'll always view Mr. West as the founding father of comedy in the DC Universe, thanks to his work in the original Batman television series.'"

This will be West's first on-screen appearance on the show, as he already earlier provided voice-over work for "Powerless." He was the narrator of the opening sequence of the show's pilot episode.

"Powerless" premiered on Feb. 2, with Hudgens as the show's lead. She plays Emily Locke, who was hired as the Research and Development Director of Wayne Security. She works under Tudyk's character, Van, the incompetent cousin of Bruce Wayne.

Despite the positive reviews that the show is getting, it is currently in danger of getting the axed after just one season because of its low ratings. During an interview with Deadline, the President of NBC Entertainment, Jennifer Salke, said that NBC will put the show on standby for now, although they have yet to make final decisions about it.

"Powerless" airs every Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
