'Prison Break' season 5 update: Latest action-packed trailer hints story's theme and Lincoln's plan to help Michael escape

"Prison Break" returns for its much-awaited fifth season this spring, and a new teaser for the Fox crime drama has been revealed.

Aired during Fox's Super Bowl programming, the latest promo shows Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) talking to her son about his father. While the video itself was only 30 seconds, it did reveal some clues on the possible theme this season. She described Michael (Wentworth Miller) to their son as someone who's "like a storm" that can return. The preview also gave viewers a look at Lincoln's (Dominic Purcell) elaborate plan to break his beloved brother out of prison once again.

The first promo clip was aired in August last year, and it featured behind-the-scenes interviews and footages. Cast members and executive producer Dawn Olmstead discussed the upcoming season in the said video. Aside from Michael, Lincoln, and Sara, season 5 brings back many "Prison Break" alums including Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), T-Bag (Robert Knepper), and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar).

"Prison Break" aired for four seasons (2005 to 2009) on Fox, and the hit series is now poised for a comeback. Season 5 spans nine episodes, and the story takes place in the Middle East, where lead character Michael Scofield finds himself stuck in a prison. Michael's friends and family are surprised when they find out about his predicament because they believed him to be dead after what happened in season 4.

In an interview with CNN, executive producer Paul Scheuring said the revival won't just be a continuation of where the plot left off. "This season was not just going to be a new prison," Scheuring said in January. He added: "I wanted to turn the whole prison escapee on its head and it's not really about getting out of the prison as much as it is getting out of the country. Where in the world can you go where your identity is really a problem?"

The fifth season of "Prison Break" premieres Tuesday, April 4, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
