Sony released an update for the PlayStation 4 titled 2.50 aka "Yukimura" last Thursday, March 26, and it turned out to be big one.

The rollout of the update was largely successful with only few PS4 users complaining of problems such as the inability to start their consoles.

Among the other issues that some users complained about were dead microphones on headsets connected to the console. But other users said they did not encounter this problem with their Steelseries Siberia v3 microphone , Razer headsets and Pulse Wireless Elite.

Some users posted complaints on Sony's PlayStation Community, saying that when using the 60 FPS setting on Remote Play or Share Play their gameplay recording stopped. Apparently, only one of these features could be operated at a given time, they said.

The biggest reported problem, however, was the apparent malfunction in users' consoles after the 2.50 update was downloaded and installed. Some users said even restarting their consoles in safe mode did not help.

As for the features included in the update, one of them rectified the Suspend/Resume feature that was already present on the PS4 console but was not working properly as it shut down the active applications on the console.

With the 2.50 update, this was fixed and users could now put their consoles into rest mode by depressing the PS button on their controller and selecting Enter Rest Mode. The rest mode will shut down the fans, after which users can just depress the button again to power up their systems and resume playing within seconds.

Other features in the update include the ability to back-up data such as settings, games, patches, screenshots and video clips to a USB drive and then restore them when needed.

The update code named Yukimura also improved the tools available for finding friends on social media sites and collaborating with them. Among the new additions are Facebook Friend Finder, which allows gamers to link to their account and find their friends. Gamers can then send Friend requests and Real Name requests in just one step, and then add their friend.
