Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 release date, news, specs: Next Snapdragon chipset powered by octa-core Kyro 200 CPU; Samsung Galaxy S8 to use Qualcomm's latest processor

According to the latest rumors, the next iteration of Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor will be released in the near future. Furthermore, several leaks regarding the new Snapdragon chipset's features have emerged online, showing how powerful the next Qualcomm processor is.

The specs of the alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor has circulated on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo. The details provided on the leaked posts reveal that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will be powered by an octa-core Kyro 200 CPU. This further suggest that when compared to the previous Snapdragon 830 chipsets, the upcoming SD 835 will have a higher clock speed. To note, the Snapdragon 830 processor has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz, and the upcoming Snapdragon processor is expected to go a bit higher than that.

The model number of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is listed as "MSM 8998" on Weibo. Other features of the new Snapdragon iteration include the Adreno 540 GPU, 4 GB of LPDDR RAM and Qualcomm's top of the line X16 modem, which is able to support up to 1 GB download speed.

According to IT Pro, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will power up the next Samsung Galaxy smartphone slated for release mid-2017. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released around Fall next year, and if the rumored Snapdragon 835 chipset on the device is true, then the next Galaxy smartphone will boast a huge percentage of improved performance over its predecessors. However, as the Snapdragon 835 will be relatively new and probably the big shot in the chipset market by then, the Galaxy S8 may be quite expensive.

As reported by Digital Trends, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will make use of Samsung's 10nm FinFET fabrication process that will allow the processor to provide impressive efficiency. It is expected to pack more parts of data into a smaller space. As a result, the latest Qualcomm SoC will boast 40 percent less power consumption compared to the Snapdragon 820 and 821 that came before it. The Snapdragon 835 will also provide 27 percent better performance, with a bonus Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
