'Quantico' season 2 news, spoilers: Season 2 episodes to go 'darker and darker'; new recruit to emerge in next episode
The ending of the second episode of "Quantico" season 2 left viewers reeling with the revelation that Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis) is working against Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and is in cahoots with the terrorists who beheaded the First Lady in the season premiere.
In episode 2, titled "Lipstick," Alex made her way, with the aid of a wounded police officer, to a bunker under the building where the terrorists were keeping their hostages, which included Ryan (Jake McLaughlin), Raina (Yasmine Al Massri), and many of the CIA operatives from The Farm. Alex managed to get a call through to the FBI and informed Miranda of her whereabouts. Miranda, in turn, asked her to gather as much intel as she could on the situation and to report back.
At the end of the episode, Miranda sent a text to one of the terrorists. "Alex Parrish is inside," the message read.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, "Quantico" creator Joshua Safran teased that the episode isn't so much about the twists but the question of how certain characters, such as Miranda, got from one side of things to the other.
"The question becomes, how did we get from there to here for Miranda?" he asked. In the case of Alex's mentor, viewers first saw her running the training program at Quantico and then found her on the opposite side, working with the terrorists.
"We'll see how that happens over the course of this season," Safran revealed.
As for Raina and Ryan, who tried to mark the terrorists in the latest episode, Safran said that they will soon find out why they have not been killed yet.
"I think that is a question Raina and Ryan will be discussing very much in the next episode," he shared. "It's going darker and darker every time."
In an interview with espnW, Chopra talked about the challenges Alex is facing in the new season.
"Alex will have to deal with the amorality, the lies and the deceit of CIA life," the "Quantico" star said, adding, "[S]he has to forget all about her morals and learn a completely different form of law enforcement, which is very difficult for her because, inherently, Alex is very honest."
In addition, Safran said that the third episode of "Quantico" season 2 will find some great action sequences, Harry (Russell Tovey) learning more about Alex and Ryan, and a new recruit being introduced into The Farm.
"Quantico" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
