'Ray Donovan' Season 3 Renewed or Canceled? Release Date Coming 2015
The crime drama series "Ray Donovan" will air its third season next year as Showtime released a promotional video confirming the next season of the hit show.
The new 20-second promotional clip featured the series' characters, Ray, Mickey and Abby, backed by a male voice saying "You don't know who you are anymore, Ray."
Recent reports claim that the Showtime summer series will have 12 episodes for the upcoming season. David Nevins, president of Showtime, shared that the next season of "Ray Donovan" will be worth anticipating as it will be showcasing a number of new complex characters into the storyline.
"Ray Donovan" was said to have keep up with the ratings race with fellow pay cable HBO's "The Leftovers," with its finale garnering the largest digits to date. According to an estimate from Nielsen, the series went up 40 percent from an average of about 2 million viewers for its regular-timeslot airing.
Meanwhile, the original cast members including Live Schreiber, Jon Voight, Hank Azaria, Eddie Marsan and Paula Malcomson will be back for the upcoming season but Ann Biderman, one of the initial series creators will not be joining the team.
Biderman, according to the Showtime's statement, has been a great contributor for the first two seasons of "Ray Donovan" and they would keep her as a creative consultant for the show.
"Ann Biderman is a uniquely gifted writer and creator," Nevins said in a statement.
Live Schreiber gets the role of a rich and famous fixer from Goldman & Drexler, a highly-esteemed law firm. Hank Azaria, who will play as Ed Cochran, will be in action in the series as a sociopath. Cochran becomes worse in the upcoming season in his efforts to escape messy situations he's into, as mentioned by Nevins.
The cast and crew of the series will be in Calabasas in early 2015 to shoot for their third season, according to a Bustle report. If the release date will follow the pattern from the previous seasons, the latest one is projected to premiere in July 2015 though no confirmation has been made yet.
