'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news update: Will game be announced this year? 'Red Dead' sequel no-show at PlayStation meeting 2016
Years after Rockstar Games released the second installment in the "Red Dead" game series, there have been speculations that the successful game developer company would release the next sequel very soon. Earlier reports suggested that the third installment, referred to by the fans as the "Red Dead Redemption 2," will be released later this year. However, Rockstar has yet to confirm this report, although they already declared that they are not closing their doors for a third "Red Dead" title.
According to iDigital Times, there were reports that surfaced over the past few weeks that Rockstar has a big surprise in store for the "Red Dead" fans. This might be pertaining to the much anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2," although there was no assurance that the surprise woud be about the sequel. Many believed that the recently concluded PlayStation Meeting 2016 event would be the venue for Rockstar Games to announce the third "Red Dead" title. Unfortunately, the event has passed and no "Red Dead Redemption 2" was mentioned.
The online publication speculated that in spite of being a no-show at the PlayStation Meeting this year, there is still hope that Rockstar will announce the sequel this year. However, time may already be running out for the "Red Dead Redemption 2." The fans were also hyped up by the rumored appearance of the new "Red Dead" sequel in the past, the last one being in the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 last June where Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick claimed to feature the game. Unfortunately, it never happened.
Meanwhile, Game N Guide reported that a recently leaked map may be the new location of the next "Red Dead" video game. The map is called the "Heartland Oil Fields," and basing on the appearance and scope of the map leak, the location of the next installment may be bigger than the previous titles. For now, it is expected that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in 2017, although nothing is final yet without the confirmation of Rockstar Games and the game franchise's publisher, Take Two.
