'Resident Evil 7' news: Game director explains creepy Bedroom DLC; second DLC pack released
The second DLC pack for "Resident Evil" has recently been released on the PlayStation 4.
The new expansion arrived Tuesday, Feb. 14, and it includes two missions to explore. Banned Footage Vol. 2 features "21," a mission in which players must fight for their lives in a deadly game along with Lucas Baker. The other mission is called "Daughters," which serves as a prequel to the main game. A new mode called Jack's 55th Birthday is also included in the DLC. Described as a "comical game mode," the mode lets players feed the main villain Jack Baker with tons of food.
The expansion is released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 first as part of a timed exclusive deal between Capcom and Sony. PC and Xbox One users can access the new DLC starting Feb. 21.
Meanwhile, fans who played the Bedroom DLC may have noticed that it appears to be different from the rest of the game. Marguerite seems more frightening than her usual self, and new options were added for managing the inventory. In a recent interview, game director Koshi Nakanishi explained that the developers always go out of their way to improve the tech and creative aspects of the game.
"In terms of game system, we were able to go further with the item interaction system from the main game where you check and combine items, use shadows and so on. Since the main game was done and dusted, we could put that experience to use in creating 'Bedroom,'" Nakanishi said in translation. "The same goes for VR - having Marguerite's face and eyes track the player's head movements really makes her feel so alive," he added.
The director added that the dev team gave extra attention to Marguerite when the DLC was being created. Nakanishi revealed that the team even acted out how they thought the character should behave like, noting that one developer "really got into the role."
