'Resident Evil 7' release date, gameplay news 2016: New weapons reminiscent of previous installments; New trailer gives closer look at Baker family

More teasers and leaks have surfaced online regarding the much-awaited installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise. Capcom has recently revealed a new trailer video for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard," giving the fans a closer look at the game's new setting and characters, particularly the main antagonists of the story. Also, new gameplay images reveal the available weapons in the game to fight the enemies.

According to iTech Post, the screenshots of the "Resident Evil 7" gameplay were leaked online. Some of them were even posted on the Brazilian "Resident Evil 7" website. In these pictures, the players' character is seen holding different types of weapons which can be used to kill the opponents. Some of these weapons may only function as temporary tool to defend oneself from danger.

The online publication that the weapons shown in the leaked gameplay images are nostalgic to the previous weaponries introduced in the previous "Resident Evil" game titles. A particular "Resident Evil 7" screenshot shows the player holding a basic handgun and a knife.

This is similar to the previous installments where these weapons are used by the players for less dangerous search operations, or for fending off a single zombie. Using a knife can save the player's resources and ammo, as the higher level of weapons must be saved for the stronger and highly dangerous flocks of zombies. However, the fans cannot expect any microtransactions in "Resident Evil 7."

On the other hand, the dark setting of "Resident Evil 7" was revealed in a new teaser released by Capcom. According to Game Spot , the teasers show the Baker family residing in their horrifying mansion. There is also a scene where the who family is dining over a fiendish meal in the table. As already shown in the previous game demo for "Resident Evil 7," it was revealed that the Baker family will serve as the primary antagonists of the story.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is set to release in PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms on Jan. 24, 2017.
