'Rick and Morty' season 3 latest news, spoilers: Rick, Morty unable to handle galactic danger in latest teaser clip

The highly-anticipated third season of Adult Swim's hit adult cartoon series "Rick and Morty" is set to premiere in 2017. To promote the upcoming season and build more hype before its arrival, Adult Swim recently released an unfinished animation sneak peek clip.

During the live stream of Adult Swim's development meeting around a couple of weeks ago, a two-minute exclusive animatic sneak peek of "Rick and Morty" season 3 was shared with the online community. The meeting was attended by a guest from Cartoon Network, "Clarence" writer Spencer Rothbell.

The clip begins with a scene in which Morty is trying to eavesdrop on the conversation between Jessica and her friends about dating. When he hears that Jessica is currently single, he attempts to jump in and talk to her. However, before he does so, old Rick arrives, dragging the young boy along to his intergalactic adventure.

During the space battle sequences, the sneak peek also showed a lot of references to the iconic "Star Wars" saga. They barely survived the ordeal, with Morty complaining he can't keep up with old Rick's dangerous lifestyle anymore. Rick is equally disturbed, knowing that they only made it out alive because of pure luck. The old man also reaches the decision that he needed to go on a vacation.

A short scene is shown in which the grandfather and grandson duo is rewarded for their supposed heroism, almost the same as the concluding scene of "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope."

Those who wish to watch the clip are warned that the sneak peek is filled with inappropriate language and is still uncensored for the time being.

According to Polygon, "Rick and Morty" season 3 is slated to premiere sometime next year, possibly in March 2017. However, neither Adult Swim nor the cartoon series' showrunners have announced the specific launch date for the much-awaited season.
