After a long delay, it seems that "Rick and Morty" will be launching its third season soon.

Recent reports suggest that the show's latest installment will now be released sometime in March. Many fans initially expected season 3 to premiere on Jan. 9, which was the schedule indicated on IMDB. The network still hasn't confirmed if the rumors are true, but fans are already looking forward to the return of the program's beloved duo.

While fans were disappointed over the misleading release date, many are still looking forward to seeing Rick and Morty's new misadventures. Adult Swim recently unveiled a new 8-bit intro for the series via YouTube for promotion, and it showcases the intro looking like retro-inspired games such as "Owlboy" and "Stardew Valley."

Titled "Rick and Morty 8-Bit Intro," the video was created by Paul Robertson, and it has around 224,000 views as of this writing. Although it doesn't reveal new information about the next installment, many fans commented that the network should also do a whole episode done in 8-bit.

During last year's San Diego Comic-Con, Harmon explained why the show's third season has been pushed back. The series creator revealed that there are various factors that made this season extra challenging for everyone working on it.

"It's been harder this season... I watched the thumbnail animatic of Episode 304 and I was ready to move forward with it and Ryan [Ridley] said 'we're not satisfied with it and we were already behind schedule," he said. "There's a weird higher calling there and it's not an endless perfectionism because you know when something finally clicks and you go 'this is a good episode of TV.' But it's not just me and I was very happy to find that out," he went on to say.

The third season of "Rick and Morty" is scheduled to premiere this year, but Adult Swim has yet to announce an official release date.
