'Rise of the Tomb Raider' 20th anniversary release date, updates: Players can control classic versions of Lara Croft
The 20-year celebration edition of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is coming this October. The new downloadable content (DLC) will have Lara return to Croft Manor to uncover more secrets about her past that her father had kept from her. This edition of the game will also have multiple classic skins of Lara Croft available which is sure to be a nostalgic treat for longtime "Tomb Raider" gamers.
The "Blood Ties" DLC is reported to be one whole hour of extra content for the game. The DLC will bring Lara back to Croft Manor. She has been given a notice to evict the site and she has to go through her father's labyrinth of knowledge to see if she is truly the rightful heir to the mansion. The rights to the manor are being deeply contested by Lara's uncle who will be the villain for the expansion.
The DLC will also include "Lara's Nightmare" and it will have the Croft Mansion overrun with zombies and other undead creatures for Lara to battle. It's said that the demons are supposed to represent an inner turmoil within Lara but the developers have also added the element just to give the expansion a bit more action.
What's more, the 20-year edition of the game is said to come with 5 playable classic skins of Lara Croft back from her PlayStation 1 days. Players will have fun watching the clunky low-res Lara climbing more detailed surroundings and fighting more realistic enemies.
The game is also said to have virtual reality support and a co-op mode that will let another player join in on the tomb-raiding fun. The game is also said to have a Extreme Survivor difficulty mode that is sure to challenge the more seasoned "Tomb Raider" fans.
The 20-year celebration edition of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" comes out on Tuesday, Oct 11.
