Gareth Edwards' "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is turning out to be one of the most highly anticipated films for the year 2016, and new stills have been released of Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and his Shadowtroopers, as well as Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and the reprogrammed Imperial droid, K2-SO (Alan Tudyk).

The new images come from USA Today, and the publication was also lucky enough to get a chance to talk to director Gareth Edwards himself. Edwards sheds a bit more light on Director Krennic in the movie, and he says that Krennic is not really one of the higher-ups in the Empire which include Grand Moff Tarkin and the rest.

"I like the idea that Ben's character was much more working-class," says Edwards. He adds that Krennic was able to get to his position "through sheer force of personality and ideas."

As for the image of Jyn, it looks like it's a still from a scene in Jedha where Capt. Cassian (Diego Luna) and K2-SO help her escape the Imperial detention center.

In other news, IMAX has just announced a contest in which participants can win a trip for two to a private screening of "Rogue One" at the IMAX headquarters in L.A. To join the contest, participants simply have to take a picture of themselves in front of the IMAX "Rogue One" standee and post it on Twitter with the hashtag, #RogueIMAXsweeps.

The standee itself is an image of all the members of the Rogue Squadron with the Death Star schematics superimposed on their faces. There are also secret messages on the board written in Aurebesh, the fictional alphabet of the "Star Wars" universe.

Some fans have decoded the messages which read, "All the power to the Empire!" "Join the Empire," and "There will be no one to stop us this time."

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters Dec. 16.
