Oklahoma City Thunder trade rumors 2016: Russell Westbrook isn't being shopped yet
After Kevin Durant's departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder, things have been a little tough for the former Western Conference contenders.
With the pairing of Durant and Russell Westbrook, the Thunder were always considered as one of the title contenders as they had two of the best players in the league today.
However, that's all in the past now as Durant will now play in Oakland alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
Now that leaves the Thunder with Westbrook as their only superstar, and his future is also in doubt as he faces free agency at the end of the 2016-17 season.
There were recent talks that the Thunder may possibly try and shop Westbrook around to get some pieces for him in return, rather than see him go as an unrestricted free agent and not get anything back for one of the best point guards in the game today.
However, NBC Sports reported that the Thunder do not have Westbrook in the trading block at the moment.
Possibly still reeling from Durant's departure, general manager Sam Presti is trying to evaluate his options for his other superstar and maybe even seeing what offers are on the table.
Sports Illustrated suggested that the Boston Celtics can be a good destination for Westbrook, after the Eastern Conference team already tried to acquire the services of Durant earlier in the summer.
The addition of Westbrook to the stacked line-up of the Celtics can certainly help them become a threat in the Eastern Conference.
But with the Thunder opting to keep Westbrook for now, the next scenario is undoubtedly trying to sign him long term.
This means they will try to get Westbrook a deal worth a lot of money that will convince him to stay, despite the Thunder not being a contender it was only a year ago.
This new saga that the Thunder are in is not expected to simmer down soon, so expect more updates to come regarding Westbrook's future.
