Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) release date, specs rumors: Midrange smartphone's press renders leaked, to debut at CES 2017?
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) could be arriving imminently. The smartphone has been spotted online several times now and just recently, the press renders for the device have been revealed.
Based on the latest leak, the Galaxy A5 (2017) will be available in four colors: Pink, Black, Blue and Gold. Aside from the images, specs of the forthcoming device were also mentioned.
It is said that the Galaxy A5 (2017) will feature a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels. In terms of dimensions, it is 145 x 71 x 7.8 mm. The smartphone will be powered by an octa-core 1.9 GHz Exynos 7880 processor and the Mali-T860 MP4 graphics processing unit (GPU) and there will reportedly be 3 GB of random access memory (RAM) and 32 GB of built-in storage.
Other notable features include a 16-megapixel front and rear camera, a 3,000 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port. The device also comes preinstalled with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. It's likely that an update to Android 7.0 Nougat will be released later on.
Earlier reports mentioned that the smartphone will have IP68 certification which means it will be waterproof. There will also be a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button.
Price for the Galaxy A5 (2017) is said to be CNY 2,699 which is about $388.
The updated version of the Galaxy A5 comes with the same display size and resolution as its predecessor. Nevertheless, there are a lot of improvements including more RAM and internal storage, improved cameras and processor and a battery with a slightly larger capacity.
Since the Galaxy A5 (2016) was introduced in December 2015, there's a possibility that consumers will see the updated device before the end of this year. However, it's also likely that the Galaxy A5 (2017) will be introduced alongside the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) devices at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from Jan. 3 to 8, 2017.
