Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date, Specs Rumors: August 2015 Launch Expected, Curved Edge to Be Major Feature
With the Galaxy Note 4 billed as the best phablet of 2014, many are looking forward to the launch of the the Galaxy Note , the next device in the series. Speculations are circulating that Samsung is bringing out a curved screen version of the device much like it did with the S6 Edge.
Most attention however, is focused on the release date of the Galaxy Note 5, with August mentioned by one news source. Daum, a Korean publication, said the release of the Galaxy Note 5 has been pushed forward from the traditional release date, which normally occurs in September. However, the publication provided no reason for the August release.
Other sources are questioning why Samsung would rush the release of the Galaxy Note 5 if it knows that it has a prospective hit on its hands.
There are also speculations that Samsung is planning to put an ultra HD display measuring 6 inches on the Note 5. If this is true then the phone could have specs of over 700 pixels per inch and resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels.
When it released the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung also launched its first curved screen device, the Galaxy Note Edge, which had its screen sloping over it right side. With the positive public feedback on the device, the company has apparently decided to create a curved screen version of the Galaxy Note 5 as well.
The Note 5 is expected to either have a dual curved screen like the S6 Edge or a single curved edge like the Galaxy Note Edge.
Samsung is expected to introduce more features and functionality in its upcoming device.
Coming to the processor driving the Note 5, Samsung may continue using its homegrown Exynos 7 octa-core chips instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. The Exynos 7420 chip has been performing well on the Galaxy S6 while rumors persist that the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip has a tendency to overheat.
