Prior to the release of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, it was a subject of numerous rumors and speculations all over the internet. Some tech observers were saying that it was going to come out as the most powerful device ever. When the company decided to release the hybrid phablet, fans were excited. Although it did not have the specs and features many people expected to have, the Galaxy Note 7 still receives critical and commercial success selling around 2.5 million units. However, two weeks after its release, the Korean tech giant issued a statement to recall all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units.

According to a report by Sky, the company has done its own investigation following several complaints of battery explosions. Samsung is said to have confirmed 35 cases of the phone's fiery explosion when being charged. The company admitted that it is a faulty battery issue.

According to Samsung's mobile business president Koh Dong-jin, one of the company's battery suppliers has caused the phablet to explode.

"We have received several reports of battery explosion on the Note 7 that was officially launched on 19 August, and it has been confirmed that it was a battery cell problem," Koh Dong-jin said. "It will cost us so much it makes my heart ache. Nevertheless, the reason we made this decision is because what is most important is customer safety."

He added that the company regrets the incident and promised consumers to replace all units with a new one, regardless of the time it was purchased.

As of the moment, Samsung has temporarily stopped the selling of the Galaxy Note 7 in all markets across the world. The company has yet to provide the name of the battery supplier that caused the fiery incidents.

Meanwhile, according to Tech Times, many consumers are not happy with how Samsung deals with the recall issue. Consumer Reports has publicly criticized the company saying that it has wrongly handled the problem.

Samsung has yet to provide an official response about the criticism.
