Samsung will pull all stops to improve its standings in the smartphone market after the exploding battery fiasco of the Galaxy Note 7 based on the rumors about the upcoming Galaxy S8.

New reports from Korean IT site ETNews claim that the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer is planning to come up with a dual-screen smartphone that features a flat display on both sides, as well as a foldable smartphone that comes with a bendable single organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display.

The website also quoted an industry expert who reportedly has knowledge about Samsung's plans to release a foldable smartphone. According to the source, "In-foldable Smartphone is seen as a first type of a foldable Smartphone. Out-foldable Smartphone is the next step of in-foldable Smartphone."

The report also claims that Samsung might possibly release the dual-screen smartphone first before coming up with the foldable screen model. This could mean that the dual-screen phones will be featured in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, while the foldable display will come out when the Galaxy Note 8 has been introduced in the market.

Aside from the possible screen feature, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is also expected to omit the physical home button feature and replace it with virtual touch-sensitive buttons. This will give the next-generation Galaxy S smartphone an all-screen design.

Other possible Samsung Galaxy S8 features include the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with at least 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) or as much as 6 GB of RAM. It might also feature a 4K display screen as well as its own virtual assistant, just like Apple's Siri.

Samsung has yet to reveal the actual specs of the rumored Galaxy S8 and its bigger cousin called the Galaxy S8 Edge, but the device is expected to be unveiled in early 2017 as part of the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, in late February.
