Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs rumors: Smartphone cancelled due to battery issue?
Samsung recently went through a rough patch after the recall and subsequent discontinuation of the Galaxy Note 7. Now, fans are wondering if the South Korean company will ever release the rumored Galaxy Note 8.
According to reports, Samsung was going to launch the Note 8 as early as February next year in the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. But because of the exploding battery issue of the Note 7, many believe that the Note 8 will be cancelled. It may not be necessarily because the device has some issues but because of the negative connotation it has for consumers.
It seems like people are now trying to stay away from the Note series. Reports detailed that this could lead to Samsung getting rid of the Galaxy Note line and just work on a single flagship in the future to secure quality products and avoid going through another setback like that of the Note 7 smartphone. This could mean that the company will be releasing the Galaxy S8 only.
Reports said that the next flagship device of Samsung will carry a better battery, this time to be supplied by LG Electronics.
The battery is also expected to have longer life to support 4K videos, which is a trend today among high-end devices. But since it takes up so much power, it will require a big battery capability. The Note 8 may also still carry some of the features from the Note 7 such as the iris recognition technology. Not a lot of smartphones possess such a feature including the iPhone so it's really something to look forward to.
Moreover, the Galaxy S8 is rumored to have a faster processor, massive RAM and improved cameras. As of now, nothing is certain yet so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out whether Samsung will drop the Galaxy Note 8 or not.
