Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Variant Scores Excellent in Benchmark Test
The recent leaks emanating from a variety of sources about the Samsung Galaxy S6 have turned into a deluge.
The best news about the upcoming device is that its variant, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, has outscored other companies' flagship devices by a mile.
Samsung has likewise indicated its own website that the upcoming smartphone will have a highly advanced camera and a full metal body.
As for the benchmark test results, these were first reported by Phonearena, which stated that that a device with the model number SM-G925W8 was put through the AnTuTu benchmark test and it scored 60,978. This model number corresponds to the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge which is rumored to have three screens – a main screen surrounded by two flexible edges.
When the test results were examined in detail, it emerged that the Exynos 7420 chipset showed a major improvement in the visualizations of 3D objects, which was a major pain point in the older Exynos 5433 chipset.
This high score in the AnTuTu benchmark test is being described as good news as Samsung has to abandon its planned use of the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 and instead use its homegrown Exynos 7420 chipset.
Earlier, leaks had hinted that Samsung would be releasing several variants of the Galaxy S6 and these would differ according to regions. However, all the leaks have pointed towards the inclusion of an edge variant version which Samsung hopes will build on the popularity of the Galaxy Note Edge.
The device that was put through the benchmark test ran the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system, had a 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels and an Exynos 7420 chipset clocked at 2.1GHz. As for RAM it had 3GB. It also sported a 20-megapixel camera at its rear and a 5 megapixel version in front. These specs mirror the current rumors circulated about the Galaxy S6.
Samsung has not provided any details about the S6, other than putting up a blog post which tracks how cameras have improved on their flagship smartphones and titled it the "The Future of Cameras is in a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone."
