Samsung Gear Live vs Moto 360 Features Comparison: Specs, Price Review - Two Completely Different Smartwatches

Samsung and Motorola have long been competitors in the smartwatch business. Their latest products – the Samsung Gear Live and Moto 360 – have been gaining lots of fans since they were released, each with its own distinctive qualities, ensuring their popularity in the market.

Design

The Gear Live is completely different from the Moto 360 in terms of design as it has a rectangular watch face made of metal while it competitor has a round watch face made of steel. As for their straps, the Gear Live has a range of straps that can be swapped out while the Moto 360 comes with a default leather strap, but other versions in steel can also be purchased. Much like the range of phones created by Samsung, the Gear Live has an IP67 rating and can be submerged in three feet of water for 30 minutes. In this aspect, the Moto 360 also has the same rating. However, in terms of weight the Gear Live is heavier at 59 grams compared to the 49 grams of the Moto 360.

Display

Comparing their displays, the Moto 360 has a LCD display measuring 1.56 inches with a resolution of 320 x 290 pixels and a density of 205 pixels per inch. As for the Gear Live it has a larger super AMOLED screen measuring 1.63 inches with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels.

Specs

In the Gear Live is a 1.2 GHz processor which is coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. As for the Moto 360 it has a TI OMAP 3 chipset along with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. Both devices come with Android Wear and can only be paired with Android devices.

Battery

On the Gear live is a 300 mAh battery while the Moto 360 has a 320 mAh battery. These small batteries do not last long and have to be recharged daily.

Price

The Moto 360 is priced at $250 while the Gear Live carries a $199 price tag.
