At the moment, the San Antonio Spurs are in control of the Southwest Division in the Western Conference.

However, they decided to bring one of their key players to the D-League as he recovers from injury, leaving the Spurs with a big gap which they should try to fill soon.

Danny Green suffered an injury on his left quadriceps and a stint in the D-League should help him get back in shape. Green is not one of the best players in the league, but his outside shooting has helped the team in various games. Without him, the Spurs will miss his averages of 9.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Throughout his carrer, Green has averaged 40 percent in three-point shooting and in his absence, the Spurs are short of outside threats against their rivals.

As a result, rumors are circulating that the Spurs are eyeing Mario Chalmers as a possible replacement while Green is out of commission.

Chalmers is currently without a team in the NBA and could come on as a cheap and low-risk replacement for Green at the moment. Playing for the Memphis Grizzlies in the past, Chalmers' averages are similar to Green. He made 9.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

He is most remembered for his stint with the Miami Heat where he helped the team win championships under the leadership of the Big Three — LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh/

Chalmers is less threatening from beyond the arc but is a reliable 36 percent from beyond the arc.

The Spurs definitely need all the help they can get if they want to keep their momentum and stay above the rest. Adding someone with championship experience will definitely help them this season while they wait for Green to completely be ready.
