ABC's "Scandal" returns in March after a two-week break, and Papa Pope (Joe Morton) could be revealed as a suspect in Frankie's (Ricardo Chavira) murder. Meanwhile, the title might end on its eighth season.

Season 6 of Shonda Rhimes' "Scandal" returns on March 9 with the episode titled "They All Bow Down." The episode will focus on Liv (Kerry Washington) trying to keep Jake (Scott Foley) and Vanessa's (Jessalyn Gilsig) messy relationship from ruining her campaign.

The episode will also reveal new information regarding the murder of president-elect Francisco Vargas, and it is possible that the evidence leads to Liv's father.

On the premiere episode of "Scandal" season 6, Liv confronted her father if he was responsible for killing Frankie. However, he swayed Liv towards Cyrus (Jeff Pery), pointing out that he was the obvious person to blame for Frankie's death.

This could be one of Papa Pope's manipulating schemes wherein he clears himself of any blame by placing other people to take the fall. But his possible agenda for having the president-elect killed would be unknown.

Meanwhile, "Scandal" might not continue past season 8.

During a public appearance in New York City, Rhimes was promoting her book "Year of Yes" where she happened to share how long she believes her shows will last.

For "Grey's Anatomy," the series creator is unsure of how long the show will continue to run. But for "Scandal," Rhimes was frank to admit that she knows when the series will end.

Rhimes revealed, "'Scandal,' I know where it ends. I know exactly where it begins and where it ends," Indiewire confirmed.

In another interview, Rhimes announced the season limit for "Scandal."

"It's not a 10-season or 8-season show. I've already decided how long that is and what that's going to be," Rhimes explained. This indicates that "Scandal" might not run past season 8.

However, it is possible that "Scandal" could turn out like "Grey's Anatomy." A show that the series creator intended to have a two-season life, ended going way beyond than everyone expected.

"Scandal" season 6 returns with episode 5, titled "They All Bow Down," on Sunday, March 9, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
