'Scandal' season 6 spoilers, news and update: Bellamy Young talks about impact of election results
Fans will not have to wait that long to learn in "Scandal" season 6 who the new president and vice president of the United States will be.
The premiere will reveal who among Mellie (Bellamy Young), Frankie (Ricardo Chavira), Jake (Scott Foley) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) will head to the White House as the new leaders of the nation.
In an interview with People, Young teased how "Scandal" season 6 will be affected after two of these candidates are hailed the winners of the election.
"[Show creator Shonda Rhimes], like the rest of us, was very invested in the [Presidential] election and I'm so curious, because we never know what's going to happen," the actress said.
"I'm so curious to see how it's impacted her and where the season will go," she went on to say. Whoever wins it all, it looks like the aftermath will be interesting and intriguing knowing the kind of leaders they could become.
Speaking more about this "Scandal" season 6 storyline, Young revealed that they filmed some scenes that were "outlandish."
"But then real life would be even more so ... so we couldn't even air it. But it's a very interesting time," she went on to say about the new season.
Young's character will be in quite a predicament in the "Scandal" season 6 premiere. The trailer teases that Mellie will ultimately be exhausted being a presidential candidate.
Unlike Mellie, however, Olivia (Kerry Washington) is not ready to give up the fight just yet and it looks like she is determined to make sure that Mellie gets the seat at the White House.
The "Scandal" season 6 trailer also shows that someone will be in serious danger. In the clip, a cabin exploded just as Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Quinn (Katie Lowes) moved towards it.
This incident will send someone fighting for their life at the hospital come "Scandal" season 6 although it is unclear as to who that will be.
"Scandal" season 6 premieres Thursday, Jan. 19, 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
