'Scream Queens' season 3 cancellation rumors: Return of familiar figure signifies a series renewal?

Are the Chanels still in danger? | Facebook/ScreamQueensFOX

The second season finale of "Scream Queens" ended up with a familiar figure, which could mean that the show has a potential of being ordered for a season 3.

In the season finale, Dr. Cassidy Cascade (Taylor Lautner) died in the hands of Nurse Hoffel (Kirstie Alley) after he backed out of their planned Green Meanie plot. His mother Jane (Trilby Glover) was also killed by the vengeful nurse.

On the other hand, Hoffel fell on a quicksand swamp at the back of the hospital. Since none of the C.U.R.E. staff were interested to save her except for Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis), she died a slow and painful death.

Years after the blood bath that occurred in the hospital, viewers of the series found out that Chanel No. 5 (Abigail Breslin) officially became a registered doctor, and she and Zayday (Keke Palmer) took over the administration of the C.U.R.E. Institute.

Meanwhile, Hester (Lea Michele) and Brock (John Stamos) plotted against Munsch and took all her money from the bank. The unlikely pair decided to buy an entire island with their stolen money, where they hunt and kill tourists who unfortunately land on their property. Munsch, on the other hand, managed to move past her misfortunes and become a successful sex expert in Aspen.

Chanel (Emma Roberts) also moved on from the events that happened in the hospital and became the host of a medical-themed TV show produced by Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) titled "Loving the C."

But toward the end of the episode, the season 1 killer Red Devil returned as Chanel leaves the studio lot. This could mean that her life and the rest of the Chanels are still in danger.

ABC has yet to confirm if they will order the third season of Ryan Murphy's horror comedy anthology, but fans of the series are hoping to see the show return for another season.
