'Sense8' season 2 air date, spoilers: On Aml Ameen's possible return and Sikander Kher's rumored demands

After suffering through months of controversies, favorable news can now be found about the upcoming sophomore season of the Netflix original series, "Sense8."

Despite numerous cancellation rumors, production for the show is still on-going, and the latest buzz about it is that Aml Ameen, the actor who was rumored to have been fired from the show, may be called back to reprise his role as Capheus "Van Damme" Onyango.

Contrary to what was previously speculated, FX News Call cited a rumor about the real reason behind Ameen's exit from the show. The article stated that Ameen may not have been fired but was instead recast due to a season 2 plot turn that could find the character of Capheus mind-swapping into another body. This could explain why newcomer Toby Onwumere will now be filling in for Ameen when "Sense8" returns for its second season.

Meanwhile, actor Sikander Kher has clarified the rumors about his unreasonable demands causing delays in the production of the show. Kher has expressed his side to Mid Day, saying that he has only been given a small part on the show and has never been in any position to demand anything of Netflix. He also stated that he has already finished filming for his role.

"Sense8" has been lauded for its sensitive handling of issues like sexuality, scientific ethics and technology. The series follows the life of eight different people who have developed a strange, psychic link to each other after simultaneously seeing the violent death of a woman through a vision. It was created by The Wachowskis, who were responsible for the groundbreaking sci-fi movie, "The Matrix," and J. Michael Straczynski, who conceptualized "Babylon 5."

Season 1 was streamed on Netflix in 2015, and favorable response to the show has gained it a second season renewal in August 2015.

"Sense8" season 2 is expected to hit Netflix with a Christmas special, which also happens to be its first episode, in December. The rest of the season 2 episodes are presumably scheduled for an early 2017 release.
