The official premiere date of "Sense8" season 2 is on May 5, 2017, but before that, a two-hour Christmas special will be shown on Dec. 23. This is a real holiday treat for all the fans as there will be a few months more to wait before the second season airs its first episode.

The first season has featured strong lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) relations between a transgender and an actor. The unique storyline may have been the reason why "Sense8" has gathered enough audience to make it to the second season.

The upcoming "Sense8" Christmas special has a synopsis that reads, "The journey continues as these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other's lives finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself."

While it did not give substantial details of what is to come, it apparently gave hints about the happenings for the second season. Based on the synopsis, the entire cast may continue to struggle for survival while they fight against each other's gifts.

Avid fans surely know that "Sense8" did not gather a lot of positive reviews as expected as some viewers believe that the show did not feature a strong storyline. However, it is believed that Netflix decided to keep the show as they still hope that it will gain more viewers in the future.

Several reports claim that Netflix already decided for a second season back in 2015, though details about it were scarce. The second season, as well as the Christmas special, is said to be a surprise for the avid viewers.

Nevertheless, "Sense8" season 2 may finally offer a material addicting enough to improve the show's ratings.
