'Sherlock' Season 4 update, rumors, spoilers: More hints point at Tom Hiddleston playing Sherlock and Mycroft's brother, Sherrinford
The fourth season of BBC's highly successful crime detective series, "Sherlock," will premiere in just a few months, but the long-standing rumors regarding the cast members and contents of the new plotline have not yet been confirmed. Perhaps one of the most interesting rumors surrounding Season 4, or Series 4 as BBC calls it, is the inclusion of Sherlock Holmes' (Benedict Cumberbatch) third brother in the story. More importantly, it is rumored that the mystery third brother is expected to be played by British actor Tom Hiddleston.
There are now more reports coming in that may confirm the role of Hiddleston in the upcoming fourth season of "Sherlock." The rumors have been rife about Sherlock and Mycroft's (Mark Gatiss) brother since the Season 3 finale of the show. As reported by Yibada, Gatiss' character said something in the last few scenes about the existence of his sibling other than Sherlock. There have been speculations that the third Holmes brother, going by the name "Sherrinford," will make his debut in Season 4, and as of today, the rumors all point to the "Thor" actor getting the special role.
The showrunners of "Sherlock" has not yet confirmed either the involvement of Hiddleston in Season 4 or the possibility of showing Sherlock and Mycroft's other brother, However, Gatiss, who also happens to be one of the executive producers of the series, may have spilled the details himself in a Comic Con event this year. As reported by Nerdist , a reporter present at the event asked him if there is a chance of Hiddleston playing a role in "Sherlock" Season 4. Gatiss gave a very teasing reply by saying, "Who says we haven't?"
On the other hand, Parent Herald reported that the rumored returning villain of "Sherlock" Season 4 will be closely related to Sherrinford. If the rumors are anything to go by, Sherlock's other brother may be the person behind the apparent faked death of Jim Moriarty, the crime specialist that terrorized Sherlock in the first and second seasons. There is no other way to confirm this theory for now as the production team remains secretive about the fourth season's contents. Perhaps the fans should just wait for the return of "Sherlock" in January 2017 to confirm the rumors by themselves.
