Sony Xperia XZ news. update, specs: Latest Xperia handset boasts improved camera, display features; cheaper than Google Pixel, iPhone 7
Earlier this year, it was rumored that Sony would release the latest model from their Xperia X smartphone. In the heels of the much-celebrated arrival of Apple's iPhone 7 and Google's latest Pixel handsets, Sony finally confirmed the rumors with the unveiling of the Xperia XZ. Its features may be similar to the previously released models from the Xperia X series, but it packs impressive improvements to rival today's leading smartphone labels.
According to iTech Post, the Xperia XZ boasts an impressive full HD screen display of up to 1,920 x 1,080px. This allows the users to experience refined images with wide-viewing angles, plus high contrast of colors that can be compared to the Quad HD screen display. The Xperia XZ's screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Likewise, the smartphone also boasts improved camera features with 23 MP rear camera supported by triple image sensing technology, Yibada reported.
The special metallic material that comprises the screen is known as Alkaleido, featuring an impressive natural brightness and clarity of the handset's screen. The metallic material is housing the 5.2-inch screen and was designed to sport a more curved appearance.
It is also worth noting that the Xperia XZ has a special water-resistant technology that was missing in the last Xperia X and Xperia X Performance.
Meanwhile, Game N Guide listed the important specs of the Xperia XZ which include Snapdragon 820 processor, with 3 GB of RAM, an internal storage of 64 GB, and an Adreno 530 GPU chipset. Furthermore, the storage capacity of the smartphone is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card.
Although the Sony Xperia XZ has top-of-the-line features, it is not as expensive as the current top smartphone brands in the market today. As reported by PC Advisor, the Xperia XZ is available in the United Kingdom for £549. To compare, the base variant of the iPhone 7 and Google Pixel start with £599.
