Last year, only few smartphones could match the Droid Turbo from Motorola in terms of specs. The Sony Xperia Z3 was one of them. This year, Sony upgraded the Z3 and launched it as the Xperia Z4. Here is how the Xperia Z4 compares to the Motorola Droid Turbo.

Design

The Xperia Z4 stands out from its competitors as it has all the style of the previous Z3, including a metal frame reinforced with resin and glass on its back panel. It also comes in four colors: white, copper, green, and gold. As for the Droid Turbo, it has an aluminum frame with sharp square corners and capacitive keys on its front. Its back panel either features Kevlar or ballistic nylon. However, it is only splash resistant while the Xperia Z4 has an IP 68 rating and can safely be immersed in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Display

The Droid Turbo fares much better when it comes to its display as its Super AMOLED screen measures 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 565 pixels per inch. The Xperia Z4 has an IPS LCD screen also measuring 5.2 inches but with a lesser resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a lesser density of 424 pixels per inch.

Specs

Since it was recently only recently, the Xperia Z4 comes with better specs in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the Droid Turbo its specs made it one of the best smartphones of 2014. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a quad-core Krait 450 CPU clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

In terms of memory slots, the Droid Turbo does not have one, but the Xperia Z4 has a slot which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. However, when it comes to RAM, both have 3 GB onboard.

Battery

The battery on the Droid Turbo easily bests the one on the Xperia Z4 as it is a 3900 mAh version that provides 48 hours of talk time, while the Xperia Z4 has a 2930 mAh battery.

Price

The Sony Xperia Z4 could cost around $900 in its unlocked state when it lands in the United States while the Droid Turbo costs $149 with a two-year contract.
