'Spider-man Homecoming' release date, updates: Video shows Tom Holland and the motion-capture tech
Just recently, the directors of "The Avengers: Infinity War" shared a behind-the-scenes look at Josh Brolin in motion capture gear as he rehearsed for his role as Thanos, the Mad Titan. Jon Watts, director of "Spider-Man: Homecoming," has released a video of Tom Holland in mo-cap as well. Holland can be seen busting some moves as a computer-generated Spidey dances along.
The Instagram post was captioned, "Yeah but @TheRussoBrothers can Thanos do THIS?" and it also showed Holland dancing along to Daft Punk's "Doin' it Right." It may not be a long video, but it's nice to see that the creative minds behind Marvel have a great sense of humor. Aside from Holland, the video also had actor Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned Leeds in the movie, nodding his head along to the beat.
Will the wall-crawler be showcasing some dance moves in the upcoming movie? Fans of the "Spider-Man" franchise will remember the cringe-inducing dance that Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) did when he was possessed by the symbiote in Sam Raimi's "Spider-man 3," but maybe this movie will be able to deliver a better performance.
According to ComicBookMovie.com, "Spider-Man" and "Infinity War" are shooting in the same motion capture studio in Atlanta, Georgia, and that Watts is already on the final days of principal photography for his production. Afterwards, the crew is heading to New York City.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be another reboot of the "Spider-Man" franchise, but this time, it will focus on a younger Peter Parker and his problems with balancing his high-school life and his superhero lifestyle. The character was first introduced in "Captain America: Civil War," and fans are saying that Holland's Spidey may just be the best one yet.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is slated for a release on July 7, 2017.
