'Star Wars: Battlefront 2' release date, news: No Conquest mode for sequel
One of the things that fans will not see in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" is a "Battlefield" Conquest mode, which gamers have been hoping to see in the sequel.
DICE associate design director Dennis Brännvall revealed on Twitter that there are no plans to add such in the highly anticipated game when a fan asked if it would be added in the title.
"I don't think we'll go that far into our other franchise but [there are] certainly things to learn from both," Brännvall said, disappointing many fans who believe such mode will be a major upgrade in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2."
Brännvall's response spawned a whole conversation on Reddit in which fans flocked to convince DICE to reconsider their decision to skip a Conquest mode for the sequel.
What fans will see in "Star Wars Battlefront 2," however, is a campaign, which the company made sure to include in the highly anticipated game.
"Myself as a Star Wars fan, I want story, I want narrative, I want something I can play that immerses me in that world but gives me something to follow and chase," DICE producer Paul Keslin told Eurogamer.
"That's actually what inspired us with the Death Star DLC and this — how we do add a bit of narrative to the multiplayer game? We know that players want that, we're not able to give them a full-fledged campaign post-launch for Battlefront, but how can we scratch that itch a bit? It's been received okay - I think some people appreciate it. We're trying to address as many things as we can," he went on to say.
Even though "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" will not have a Conquest mode, it looks like DICE has something else in mind to make sure that fans will still love the game. However, fans hope that DICE will still consider their input.
