Electronic Arts (EA) has continued to expand its popular adventure first person shooter game "Star Wars: Battlefront," which is heavily based on George Lucas' classic "Star Wars" film series. After the current expansion of the video game, "Death Star," EA recently confirmed the release date of its next downloadable content pack (DLC), "Scarif."

"Star Wars: Battlefront" game producer Paul Keslin confirmed via recent blogpost at the official "Star Wars" game website that the "Scarif" DLC will be available this coming Holiday season. Aside from the next game expansion, more exciting stuff can be expected by the players before the year ends.

"This December, you'll be able to discover characters, maps, and more from the upcoming movie in this exciting new digital expansion, featuring the tropical planet of Scarif," said Keslin. "Prepare to band together on the battlefront for an epic 'Star Wars' adventure."

Unlike the previously released content packs for "Star Wars: Battlefront," the "Scarif" DLC will provide a breath of fresh air for the players. Scarif itself is a known planet in the "Star Wars" movies, having a tropical beach ambiance that the other "Battlefront" DLCs do not have. As expected, the next DLC will include new weapons and Star Cards for the players' advantage. As of now, no specific details were given just yet regarding the new weapons sets.

To recall, the last DLC expansion for "Star Wars: Battlefront" is the "Death Star," which highlights the Empire's highly infamous weapon of planetary proportion. "Death Star" DLC also introduced new heroes in the game such as Chewbacca, Han Solo's most trusted companion.

According to Mobile N Apps, the rumors are rife that the release of "Scarif" DLC will coincide with the theatrical release of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which will fall on December 16 worldwide. This will be a huge double treat for the "Star Wars" fans if ever this happens.

Meanwhile, the "Star Wars: Battlefront" Ultimate Edition will be out on November 18, which includes all the Season Pass contents of "Death Star," "Bespin," "Outer Rim" and the upcoming "Scarif" DLC. The Ultimate Edition bundle costs $39.99, Video Gamer reported.
