Brand-new and exciting details about the mysterious creatures that thrive in the planet Ahch-To that are rumored to appear in "Star Wars: Episode 8" have come to light.

Late last year, Making Star Wars reported that there are winged creatures that Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) shares Ahch-To with. Referred then by the publication as "puffins," these exotic animals had to be won over by Luke in order for him to be able to stay there. More importantly, they could actually be more familiar to fans than they expect.

For Rey's (Daisy Ridley) training in "Star Wars: Episode 8," she will also have to earn the trust of these creatures for her to be able to master her abilities there without trouble. After all, it is the majestic creatures' job to keep the place safe as the "protectors" of the planet.

The latest report from Making Star Wars reveals that the bird-like creatures in question are actually the convorees straight from the animated series, "Star Wars Rebels."

As for the take of "Star Wars: Episode 8" with the design of the convorees, the publication said that while the appearance will mostly be the same, the people behind the film also made sure to "leave some room open for the animated shows' interpretation."

The convorees are described to be messengers and observers. Making Star Wars speculate that, based on the instances they appear in "Star Wars Rebels," could be key to long lost knowledge about the Force.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" will pick up exactly where "Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens" left off, which is Luke and Rey meeting for the first time.

The film is expected to follow the Jedi master as he trains the skilled scavenger from Jakku with the ways of the Force. In fact, their relationship will be central to the film.

Speaking to USA Today, he said that "Star Wars Episode 8" will see the two connect while "a large part of the movie" will see Luke pondering his current situation and his next move while Rey will come to terms with her power and gift.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" hits the theaters Dec. 15, 2017.
