'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 air date and news: New promo clip for the next episode features the Mandalorians
The next episode in line for the third season of "Star Wars Rebels" is titled "Imperial Supercommandos," and the episode will be exploring more of Sabine's Mandalorian heritage and her family. A new promo clip has been released for the episode, and it features Sabine, Ezra, and Chopper surrounded by a group of Mandalorian warriors.
The clip runs for about a minute and a half. The Mandalorians tell Sabine that her mother is looking for her — a statement which Sabine refuses to believe. The group also criticizes Sabine for defecting to the Rebellion and how she has shamed her family for leaving the Imperial Academy. If Sabine had not left, the Mandalorians say that she would have been wearing the same armor that they were wearing.
To recap, Sabine's family used to be part of the Mandalorian "Death Watch," a radical terrorist group that went against the Republic back in the Clone Wars era. With her leaving the Empire and her family history, Sabine has a lot of inner turmoil to wrestle with when it comes to her heritage.
Interestingly enough, the Mandalorian armor has a very similar look to Ralph McQuarrie's original Boba Fett design. The first Mandalorian to ever appear in the entire series is Boba Fett, and it was revealed that his armor is a traditional design made by his people in Mandalore.
What's also interesting is the Mandalorians' choice to join the Empire. Originally, Boba Fett was supposed to be some sort of specialist Stormtrooper, an Imperial Supercommando, even having white armor in the designs; but his character was eventually changed, and fans got the dirty bounty hunter character in "The Empire Strikes Back."
The third season of "Star Wars Rebels" is currently ongoing, and the next episode, "Imperial Supercommandos," will air Saturday, Nov. 5, at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Disney XD.
