'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 updates: Ezra's new look and weapons revealed

Fans of the CGI animated TV series "Star Wars Rebels" have been surprised to see a whole new look of Ezra Bridger in the upcoming third season, as shown in a clip from a promotional video released on Star Wars Youtube channel last week.

In the video (shown below), "Star Wars Rebels" showrunner Dave Filoni took time to introduce the new clip from the next installment. The clip (which starts at 3:40) shows Ezra, Sabine, Zeb, Hondo Ohnaka, and an Ugnaught trying to flee from Stormtroopers in a hallway. The most intriguing thing about the clip is Ezra's entirely new look.

When fans last saw him in "Rebels" season 2, Ezra was still visibly a kid with somewhat shaggy hair, and his look resembled what some would call a "space Aladdin." Now Ezra has visibly grown, and the first thing that people will notice is his new slicked-back haircut, very reminiscent of his Master, Kanan Jarrus (sans the ponytail).

Since he also lost his blaster-lightsaber hybrid in the end of season 2, Ezra is now sporting what looks to be a Han Solo-esque blaster, and he has also made himself a green lightsaber as well. Fans will also notice that Ezra is wearing completely new duds, still with the yellow and orange theme, but looking more like a military uniform than his old baggy suit in the previous seasons.

Furthermore, Ezra seems to have learned new lightsaber skills. Could this be a result of further training with Kanan, or could this be skills that he learned from the Sith holocron?

Last season, fans got to see the crew of the Ghost completely devastated. Not only did Ezra lose his one-of-a-kind lightsaber, but due to Maul's betrayal, Kanan was also severely blinded. Some may see this as a callback to another blind Jedi in the video game "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed," General Rahm Kota. In the game, Khota was blinded by Vader's apprentice in a battle as well, but throughout the story, he eventually teamed up with him and together they sparked the beginning of the Rebel Alliance.
