The winners of Valve Corporation's first-ever Steam Awards announced back in 2016 has recently been revealed.

After almost two weeks of voting, ten games received honors in 12 categories in The Steam Awards 2016. Each of the eight original award categories opened by Valve was allotted a single day for voting in a period which spanned from Dec. 22 to 29. On Dec. 30, the remaining four last-minute additions were voted on.

The winning games were chosen by Steam users, all of whom received a Steam Awards Trading Card for their participation. The winners were announced on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. PT or 4 p.m. ET.

According to the Steam Awards' official website, the "Villain Most In Need Of A Hug" award went to the video game "Portal 2." For the "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An award" category, a game titled "Euro Truck Simulator 2" was given the award.

For being a game that remained just as good now as it was when gamers first played them, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" took home the "Test of Time" Steam award. The "Just 5 More Minutes" award went to "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive."

"Grand Theft Auto V" was a clear fan-favorite among Steam Users, having won two out of the twelve award categories opened by Valve. For being a game that blew people's minds, it became the recipient of the "Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!" award. For having the best mini game hiding within another game, "GTA V" also received the "Game Within A Game" award.

Among the nominated games which supposedly blindsided players emotionally, "The Walking Dead" ended up being the sole victor, having won the "I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye" award. Meanwhile, "Goat Simulator" won the award for "Best Use Of A Farm Animal."

In the four community award categories, games such as "Doom" ("Boom Boom" award), "Dark Souls 3" ("Love/Hate Relationship" award), "Euro Truck Simulator 2" ("Sit Back and Relax" award), and "Left 4 Dead 2" ("Better With Friends" award) were announced as the winners.

It should be noted that out of all the winners, only two of them were launched in 2016, according to Polygon.
