Steam Winter Sale 2016 latest news: Massive holiday sale to start on Dec. 22?
The 2016 Steam Winter Sale will be launching on Dec. 22, reports say.
Eurogamer has confirmed the rumor through their source that the Steam Winter Sale is set to begin on Dec. 22 and will last until Jan. 2. The news was initially leaked on NeoGAF.
Although the buzz about the launch date of Steam Winter Sale this year has been very loud, Valve has yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the reports and detailing what game titles will be featured on the Christmas sale.
According to Cinema Blend, the Winter Sale organized by Steam is usually when the big boys in gaming come out to play. Popular game titles of the year are discounted by as much as 50 percent and up to 95 percent. Games like "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" are expected to be sold at discounted prices just to encourage a few more thousand gamers to try and play the first-person shooter video game.
Another game that could have a hefty price cut is "Grand Theft Auto V." This game from Rockstar Games has been a strong force in the gaming marketplace, and the large discount during the Winter Sale will lure anyone who has yet to try the game title to purchase it on Steam.
Unfortunately, game titles like "Titanfall 2" and "Battlefield 1" won't be making an appearance on Steam due to their exclusivity in the EA's Origin platform. This move by EA to push for exclusivity in the Origin platform will reportedly limit their amount of sales.
Last month, Steam previously launched their Annual Autumn Sale. Also known as the Black Friday Sale, more than 12,000 games were offered at discounted prices from Nov. 23 until Nov. 29. The Autumn Sale featured popular games that were launched in 2015 and 2016. Among these discounted games include "Fallout 4," "Doom 2016," "Civilization VI," "Attack on Titan," "Hitman, The Complete First Season," and "Battlerite."
