'Steven Universe' season 4 release date and news: Steven and Peridot to fuse?

Though "Steven Universe" is currently on hiatus, new episodes are set to come out this November. Voice actress Ashly Burch has also announced that she will be in the show, so some fans are already wildly speculating as to which character she will play.

Birch announced her involvement via Twitter, and fans suspect that she may be voicing a Steven-Peridot fusion. Since the show usually brings in a separate actress to voice a fusion, it's likely that Birch's guest stint could have her providing a voice for a new character.

One of the most popular actresses to voice a fusion in the show is pop singer Nicki Minaj. She provided the voice for the Garnet-Amethyst fusion, Sugilite.

Birch herself has worked voices in several games and shows, having made contributions to "Adventure Time," "Over the Garden Wall," and the game, "Life Is Strange."

Some fans are actually putting down the possibility that Steven and Peridot will fuse. One popular guess is that Peridot will be fusing with her roommate, Lapis Lazuli, instead. The upcoming episode "Gem Harvest," will star both of them as they try to work on their own farm so the show could focus more on their dynamic.

As of now, Peridot is the only Crystal Gem member not to have fused with anyone. Lapis had reluctantly fused with Jasper at the end of the first season, and she has yet to fuse with someone else willingly. Peridot has also been asked by Garnet to attempt fusion, but seeing that she is a traditional Homeworld Gem, she refused — gems aren't supposed to fuse with gems that are a different kind back in Homeworld.

Will Steven and Peridot fuse, or will it be Peridot and Lapis instead?

"Steven Universe" season 4 is set to come back this November.
