While details about the plot of "Stranger Things" season 2 remain scarce, the cast of the breakaway summer hit from Netflix are slowly opening up about what fans should expect when the series returns next season.

People caught up with David Harbour during the Golden Globes 2017 red carpet Sunday night, where the actor who portrays the role of Hawkins Police Department chief Jim Hopper in the series teased that the second season will be very interesting.

"I love it, it's very strange," Harbour stated in the interview. "I was terrified the first season because it was a role I had never been given the chance to play — this heroic sort of character. Now I am more terrified to go into season two because of the pressure."

The actor also revealed that the story for the upcoming season will be richer and more exciting compared with the first one.

On the other hand, Winona Ryder told E! News that she is also kept in the dark about the plot of "Stranger Things" season 2. But it reportedly worked for her, because not knowing what will happen on the show could help her perform her role as Will Byer's (Noah Schnapp) mother Joyce.

Meanwhile, the show's director Shawn Levy also talked about what fans should look forward to when the sci-fi web thriller returns to Netflix for season 2 during the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party as reported by Vanity Fair.

According to Levy, the upcoming season will have a potentially darker plot. "The threat, which in Season 1 was to Will Byers, has grown. That's all I'm going to say! But, I will say Season 2 has a bigger cast and is definitely loyal to the kind of magical storytelling that we established in the first season. It's character-based and still about our core group of characters," the director stated.

Netflix is expected to release the second season of "Stranger Things" in 2017.
