'Street Fighter 5' season 2 latest news: Capcom promises to release new content for season 2 this year
The year 2017 marks as the 30th anniversary of the world-famous video game franchise, "Street Fighter." In celebration of this milestone, series producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed that fans of the franchise will be in for a surprise or two.
When asked about Capcom's plans for the momentous anniversary, Ono told IGN, "Around E3 timing, maybe even San Diego Comic-Con, we have one or two surprises we hope our fans will look forward to."
The launch of "Ultra Street Fighter 2" for the upcoming Nintendo Switch console will serve as the "kick off" of Capcom's 30th celebration, according to Ono. He also highlighted the announcement last year of "Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite" at the PlayStation Experience. The series producer also reaffirmed Capcom's efforts to update "Street Fighter V" and to release Season 2 content this year.
As previously reported, many gaming fans felt that "Street Fighter 5" could be better. There are reports which have criticized the game for its lack of sense of style and flare. There are also those who felt the game, in its attempt to simplify its systems, has become dull and almost predictable.
Capcom, from its end, has taken considerable steps to rectify the issues which have been identified in "Street Fighter" season 2. It has been reported that the game publishing company has not only expanded the game's cast with the addition of Akuma and several new characters, it has also issued a massive balance patch before the end of 2016.
Capcom continues to make sure that "Street Fighter V" Season 2 is redeemed in the eyes of its gaming fans. In a recent blog post published in Capcom Unity, the company revealed that they have been monitoring character performance since the release of the Season 2 balance patch. Their current analysis of the data will be able to tell if additional adjustments may be needed in the video game.
The company also announced that the team has been working hard for the past several months in improving the quality of Capcom Fighters Network. Although they weren't able to share specific details about the development of CFN, they did reveal that an update is scheduled to roll out sometime this Spring.
More news about "Street Fighter V" season 2 will be shared by Capcom in the coming months.
