'Street Fighter 5' Season 2 news: update arrives with massive, game-changing tweaks

"Street Fighter 5" Season 2 has officially kicked off, finally bringing to the fold Akuma, who was seen in action in "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution."

The character's story, his premium battle and nostalgia costumes are all included. Fans can get him from the Season 2 character pass, which will also include five new characters, costumes and a PlayStation 4 (PS4) theme.

"Street Fighter 5" Season 2 also arrives with a beastly set of balance tweaks and changes. In fact, there is so many that it took Capcom 92 pages to be able to compile them all.

One of the changes to take note of is that of the Dragon Punch (DP). While EX DPs remain unbeatable in the first frame, the Season 2 update still renders them finally vulnerable to meaty attacks.

Meanwhile, "Street Fighter 5" Season 2 is also making it hard for players to access the anti-air button, which is an easy way out even in the trickiest of situations.

It only takes a press of a button to make use of this technique, but not after "Street Fighter 5" Season 2 update, where a set of new hit boxes had to be accessed to be able to activate it.

Capcom also made a change in the recoverable damage, so that it will accumulate slower than it did in Season 1 when players block attacks. This means that in "Street Fighter 5" Season 2, doing nothing but blocking puts them in a perilous place as they could be in the face of a huge amount of damage.

Of course, Capcom also nerfed some characters including Chun-Li, whose advantage players enjoy with by spamming her instant air legs has been taken away.

R. Mika will not be as deadly as she was before in "Street Fighter 5" Season 2 as Capcom took away the ability of players to bounce from anywhere on the stage to beat the opponent to a pulp. Now, that just works in the corner.
