'Suits' season 6 plot news: Mike Ross to start serving time in prison; series welcomes new faces

Meghan Markle as Rachel Zane in "Suits" | USA Network

"Suits" is set to return on USA Network for its sixth season on July 13. The upcoming season will witness Mike Ross' (Patrick J. Adams) stint in prison but sans his friend Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). Several new faces will also appear in the legal drama series.

In the teaser clip released by USA Network promoting the next season of "Suits," Ross is shown getting his head shaved by a prison warden. As he sits waiting for it to be done, voices in the background can be heard. These are throwback voices reminiscent of the conversations Ross had with the people who were convincing him against pleading guilty and to wait for the verdict instead. The off-camera voices were punctuated with the statement of the judge declaring a "not guilty" verdict. The teaser video ended with Ross being ushered by the jail guard to his cell with the other inmates watching him.

In the official "Suits" season 6 synopsis released by USA Network, it is revealed that the season will immediately pick up from the evident consequence of Ross' guilty plea which is that he will start serving his sentence. The penitentiary will be Ross' residence for the next two years of his life and he will have to start adjusting and dealing with the fact.

Meanwhile, the Pearson Specter Litt law firm is no longer the same after partners have deserted the company. Harvey, Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) now have the immense responsibility of repairing the damages and restoring the firm with whatever it is that they have left.

Meanwhile, season 6 of "Suits" will see the addition of a recurring character by the name of Tara Messer (Carly Pope). Pope will play the role of a sophisticated and sharp commercial architect to be brought in by Louis to mediate between him and Stu Buzzini (Ian Reed Kesler) who is another new character to be introduced. Stu will be a Wall Street trader who happens to have an unbearable attitude.

Aside from Pope and Kesler, other new actors to be joining in "Suits" season 6 include Malcolm-Jamal Warner as a prison counselor, and Erik Palladino and Paul Schulze who will both play Ross' inmates. In addition, season 6 will also feature Alan Rosenberg as Wall Street player William Sutter, Malcolm Gets as Rachel's ethics teacher Professor Dunbar, and David Hewlett as energy company CEO Nathan Byrnes.
