'Supernatural' season 12 news, release date: Castiel's old nemesis returns this season
In the 12th season of The CW's fantasy horror TV series "Supernatural," viewers will get to know more about their favorite angel Castiel (Misha Collins). Castiel's long-time enemy is expected to appear in the show this season.
According to TVLine, an old enemy of Castiel's will be appearing n season 12. The nemesis will be portrayed by a familiar face. Fans of the "The Walking Dead" will find actress Alicia Witt joining the cast this season as Lily Sunder. Witt portrayed Paula in the popular AMC series.
The actress proudly announced the news on Twitter. She posted a video, wherein she explained to her followers why she skipped Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta this year. Witt said that she had to film for her latest role in "Supernatural," and the scenes had to be shot in Vancouver. Hence, her absence.
"The Walking Dead" alum didn't say a lot about her latest character, but she did reveal that she somehow had a "relationship with Castiel." Both characters probably go way back. Moreover, Witt admitted that Lily will "kick ass" in season 12.
Witt is also known for appearing on ABC's "Nashville" and FX's "Justified." She will also be seen in Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival.
Another storyline to look forward to this season has to do with Castiel and the king of hell Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Both characters are on a mission to defeat Lucifer for all that he has caused in the previous season. To recap, the fallen angel used Castiel as a vessel to take over Crowley's kingdom.
Aside from Castiel's story, fans are also looking forward to the Winchester reunion. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester's (Jared Padalecki) mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), rose from the dead and will now be joining the brothers in their hunt for all things supernatural.
