Castiel (Misha Collins) and Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) might work together to get Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) back. Meanwhile, could John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) show up soon?

Previously in episode 8 of "Supernatural" season 12, Sam and Dean were arrested under the orders of the President of the United States, which was really Lucifer (David Chisum) using him as his vessel. The two were tagged as cultists and were detained by the Secret Service, leaving no trace for Castiel to find them.

In the promo for "Supernatural" season 12 episode 9, Sam asks where they were taken to, and the agent answers him, "One of those places that officially doesn't exist." It seems that it will take a while before Castiel finds the Winchester brothers. He might ask Mary for help in trying to track down the boys.

Aside from this, the gang will also have to worry about the coming of Lucifer's unborn child.

Meanwhile, there might be a chance that John Winchester will be popping up to complete their family once again, but it might not be anytime soon.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Andrew Dabb talked about how Morgan will be coming back to "Supernatural" now that he's playing big bad Negan in "The Walking Dead."

"I don't really worry about that because by the time he comes back, I'm sure 'Supernatural' will have been on for 20 seasons at that point, and 'TheWalking Dead' will be long over," Dabb explained.

The showrunner then praised Morgan on being an actor.

"Jeffrey's an amazing actor... He plays such a great bad guy. But at the same time... if you give him really good material, he can go back to being someone we know and love and someone we can empathize with," shared Dabb.

"Supernatural" season 12 returns on Jan. 26, 2017.
